Islam: Peace or Terror?

Is Islam a religion of peace? By the end of this article you will be able to make your own mind up as to whether or not it is. Let’s start from the basics, the word Islam means to submit to the One and only God, ‘Allah’. Allah is the Arabic word for God. The word Islam is also derived from the root word salaam, using the root word salaam you can also derive the words peace and safety. Islam is a way of life; The Quran is a book from God that was revealed to Prophet Muhammad over 1400 years ago to be given to all of mankind for guidance. Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world. There are over 1.7 Billion Muslims in the world today. Muslims believe in one God and that Muhammad, Jesus, Moses, Noah, Abraham, Isaac etc. were prophets sent by God and that Muhammad was the last and final messenger.

Many online sites have taken verses from The Quran out of context and altered them to show people that Islam is full of hate and killing. These sites have been found by Muslims around the world and have been refuted. If one was to read the actual Quran in the form of a physical book then they would only see the miracle of God and the beauty in it’s message. The message is universal, it teaches that all human beings are created equal and that there is no distinction to be made between colour or race. There are a plethora of verses in The Quran proving that Islam is peaceful and does not promote violence or terror, here are a few:

“…if any one killed a person, it would be as if he killed the whole of mankind; and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole of mankind…” – The Holy Quran (Chapter Five, Verse 32).

(The Quran – Chapter 2 Verse 208) “O You who have chosen to be graced with belief! Enter all of you collectively into the Prescribed System of Life that guarantees peace and security. And do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is an open enemy to you.” (Satan = Selfish desires)

“God does not love corruption”. (The Quran – Chapter 2 Verse 205)

(The Quran – Chapter 2 Verse 25) “And those who believe and do righteous good deeds, they are dwellers of paradise, they will dwell therein forever.”

(The Quran – Chapter 4 Verse 124)

“Allah has promised those who believe and do deeds of righteousness that for them there is forgiveness and a great reward” (i.e. Paradise).

(The Quran – Chapter 5 Verse 9) Verily, those who believe, and do deeds of righteousness, their Lord will guide them through their faith; under them will flow rivers in the Gardens of Delight” (Paradise).

(The Quran – Chapter 11 Verse 11)

“Verily, those who believe and do righteous good deeds, and humble themselves before their Lord, they will be dwellers of Paradise to dwell therein forever.”

There are many more verses from The Quran that teaches peace and good doings, as mentioned above, online websites have altered these verses to mislead millions of people into believing that Islam is a religion of terror. Fortunately the majority of the world’s population are not being fooled by these pathetic attempts to defame Islam and Muslims. Instead of reading online versions of The Quran, thousands of people are going to Islamic bookstores or ordering The Quran online to read as a physical book where no man can change the words given by God. Millions of Muslims have memorised the whole Quran by heart, if one was to alter it then it would be noticed immediately! According to many sources over 20,000 people convert to Islam in the US and over 5000 in the UK per year!

The verses provided above prove that Islam is a religion of peace. Islam does not promote terror, killings or anything negative. The Quran is a complete book that brings glad tidings to all of mankind, a Book where nothing has been omitted, and a book of Science.

The Quran was written over 1400 years ago and talks about scientific facts that have only been proven by scientists in the last 100-200 years. Below is a list of scientific facts written in The Quran.

  • Human embryonic development
  • The Big bang
  • Evolution
  • The Universe & the expansion of it.
  • Cerebrum
  • Seas and Rivers
  • Deep seas and internal waves
  • Clouds and the water cycle.
  • Geological phenomena and clues to the existence of the origination of life within rocks.

Plus many more. Read Islam And Science for more information on this by clicking Here.

(The Quran – Chapter 21 Verse 30) “Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and we separated them and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe?”

This article has proven that The Quran is a book of guidance, peace, good tidings and righteousness. If you are still in doubt then do what the other millions are doing around the world and go read The Quran. If a person has committed a crime, harmed another and calls themselves a Muslim, then they are not following what God has prescribed for them.

(Surah Al-Ikhlas Chapter 112)

“In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. Say: He is Allah, the One! Allah, the eternally besought of all! He begetteth not nor was begotten. And there is none comparable unto Him.”
